Touring artist, record producer, Space Roadie – born Jason Achilles Mezilis to a musical family as the son of a Greek Immigrant. Achilles’ new experimental, fully instrumental partnership with drummer Forrest Mitchell is his latest and most unique in a long, divergent path of musical endeavors…

…spanning orchestral recordings and classical piano (at a young age), to hero worship of late 70’s / early 80’s defining rock and neo-pop bands (Joe Jackson, The Police, ‘ABACAB’-era Genesis…to The Mighty Van Halen, Mutt Lange’s über production with Def Leppard, The Cars), and working backwards towards the electric discovery of early recordings of the great Jeff Beck (an ‘ah-ha’ realization of what melodic-driven rock instrumentalism could truly achieve). An unreleased live version of Achilles and Mitchell’s rendition of “Rice Pudding” is still lurking in the wings…

Achilles’ other musical pursuits include orchestral composition, with notable performances May-April 2024 at Segerstrom Center for the Arts (Costa Mesa, CA) and Carnegie Hall… and a healthy side gig as an aerospace consultant, leveraged into recent technical consulting with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory to help bring about the first recorded sound from the planet Mars with NASA’s Mars 2020 “Perseverance” rover.
