If you follow this blog, you’ll know that we are big fans of Bryde. Before Bryde, Sarah Howells was in a band called Jylt. The album, “Surrender” was released on 12 June 2024.
About the album:
Sarah Howells (aka Bryde) says:
“It’s 20 years since my best friend & band member sadly left us after an 18 month battle with leukaemia. We wanted to honour & celebrate the joy we found playing in our band Jylt by releasing an album of songs, demos & live tracks from that time.
All proceeds will go to the charity her parents set up raising money for the local hospital’s cancer day unit: https://www.whcduappeal.co.uk/.”

What I’ve heard so far from this album is really good, and it still sounds fresh even though the songs were written and recorded many years ago. I also found some old live videos of the band on YouTube.
Band Bio:
If we go to the beginning then Jylt really began with two girls who had gotten too old to play with dolls. Sarah Howells had been learning piano for a few years and had begun to experiment with “making stuff up”. Nia George was in the school choir and loved a wide range of music. Living room concerts singing a capella pop hits of the day turned into song writing round the piano.
Jylt: Alex Cooper, Nia George, Sarah Howells, Tim Ramsey
