Pretty Sick are a three piece from New York, comprising of Sabrina Fuentes, Wade Oates and Austin Williamson. They’ve been releasing music since around 2017 as far as I can tell.
This, I think, is awesome. For some reason, it feels like it has a slight early Smashing Pumpkins vibe to it, but then with a bit of Hole laid over the top. The vocal is pure indie though – disaffected, distorted, minor key melodic. And the whole thing is as raw as hell. It’s discordant and drenched in feedback and veers towards the unlistenable, a bit like Sonic Youth in their pomp.
All of which is to say: it’s bloody great. Turn it up loud, let your ears bleed out, and enjoy.
