I first came across SKIES when they supported The Slow Readers Club a few years ago. Recently their new single, “It’s Alright”, came up on my New Release Radar on Spotify. I liked the song from the first listen, it’s melodic and the lyrics are thought-provoking. The band have produced a wonderful video to promote the track, which features singer Alie Cotter’s nan.
If you click through to watch the video on Youtube, you will find the lyrics to the song as well as the story behind the making of the video.

Handpicking elements of pop, rock & emo in equal measure, SKIES have started from the ground up. They began their journey with debut EP “If You Feel Like It” (2015). Sophomore EP “We Fear Change” (2017) came at a time of change for the band as they embraced working independently – ‘What is so wrong with being alone anyway?’ so their song “Green” goes… The band went on to release their third EP “X” (2018), a face off between fears and faith. New singles “Born Yesterday” (2019) and “It’s Alright” (2020) take you from empowerment to emotion and hit hard. All produced by Oz Craggs at Hidden Track Studios in their hometown of Folkestone, UK.
With tracks featuring on BBC Radio 1, Channel 4’s “Made in Chelsea”, ITV’s “The Only Way is Essex”, “New Music Friday” Spotify playlist and BBC Introducing, SKIES sound has begun to reach some heights. On the live front, the band play anywhere from Rock City (supporting The Slow Readers Club) to your very own back garden (as part of their new #LivingTheStream’ Tour)!
In the current climate, it’s hard to know what the future holds for the music industry or how musicians and fans will have to adapt to live music, whatever happens, SKIES are excited to get back out there and ‘do it all again’…
SKIES are Alie Cotter (Lead Singer / Guitar) & Jericho Tozer (Drums / Synths)
