It’s a great name, but too long to keep typing out, so we’re going to go with their Twitter handle and refer to them as Pigs x 7 if that’s ok with everyone?
The band are from Newcastle here in the UK and, I guess, a sort of post-punk and metal fusion band. ‘GNT’ is actually from their last album King of Cowards which came out in 2018. They have a new record which came out in April called Viscerals, but I chose this track because I think it’s still my favourite by them. It has a bit of everything for me – a death metal grind, an industrial underbelly and a little flourish of Goth.
The band comprise Matt Baty on vocals, Sam Grant and Adam Sykes on guitar, John-Michael Hedley on bass and Christopher Morley behind the drums. They’ve been getting a bit of exposure on BBC 6 music recently which is good to see and hear. But I’d definitely recommend checking out all of their albums (the two mentioned above and their debut Feed the Rats). If you’re in the mood for something a bit cathartic, then you need look no further.
