Track of the Day – THE DUNTS – Learn

The Dunts are another band I’ve featured before in my picks for track of the day. Incredibly, though, the last time was back in 2017 when I plumped for the brilliant Hampden Cabs‘ from their EP Self Proclaimed Council Punk. Where has the time gone?

Well, since I featured them in my article on the Glasgow music scene, they’ve continued to play live and hone their sound. A bit like Voodoos, who I featured last week, they’re in the process of evolving their sound a little bit. But then that scene has always been a bit mercurial, rooted in punk but with a load of other influences up for grabs. ‘Learn’ seems to be edging away from the raw, all out kinetic energy of that foundation and a little more into indie rock territory. It reminds me a bit of Mellor actually in some ways – another favourite I keep coming back to here.

In any case, it’s great. I’m glad I can get to pick them again and keep my (mostly consistent) Glasgow Thursday theme running.
