Mellor have already become a firm favourite of mine here on the blog: this is the third time I’ve picked one of their songs for track of the day. Maria has also picked one of theirs in the past (and reviewed their show in London), which is something that makes me very happy too.
This is another belter from them. I really like the slightly paranoid guitar riff than runs throughout the whole thing, offsetting the vocal melody as though it’s doing its own thing. It almost sounds like it’s in a different key to the rest of the band which is very clever and gives the whole thing a real sense of urgency. Yeah, I love it. This band just keep getting better. There must be a debut album on the way soon, although to be honest, if they keep releasing singles and EPs as good as they have this far, then that hardly matters.
