Track of the Day – PRESS CLUB – Separate Houses

PClub2

Press Club are a punk/garage band from Melbourne, Australia. They released two albums last year by the looks of things – two – one in January and one in August. Unless that’s just a result of some distribution thing. Otherwise that’s proper punk ethos to me. ‘Separate Houses’ is the opening track from the second of these records, Wasted Energy.

Yeah, this is great. It reminds me, at different points, of The Mysterines, The Distillers, and Camp Cope. It’s loud and brash and energetic. And it descends into a little bit of glorious chaos about two thirds of the way through. I mean, what’s not to like about that? I’m currently listening to the albums and liking them a lot so far. They’re both quite melodic but spiky too, a bit aggressive, a real sense of not really giving a shit. And the band has a great vocalist in Natalie Foster. If you get the chance, check them out. They’re really worth your time. Highly recommended.
