The second Liverpool band I’ve featured this week. I previously picked ‘Division of Labour‘ for track of the day last year, and ‘Last Century Man‘ back in June. In fact, Vile Assembly might be the first band I’ve picked a track from three times. I make no apology for it though. They’re pretty great.
I saw an interview where they were described as an ‘accidental band’, born of the need to protest and the vacuum there was in the current music scene. Given the state of the world, I’d have to agree that their music is pretty important right now. ‘Propaganda’ is less full-on punk than their previous singles – there’s a more melodic, ’80’s post-punk sound to it. But some great guitar work in there amongst the atmospherics, and the same biting acerbic lyrics as usual.
