Track of the Day – LEWSBERG – Edith

Lew2

Minimalism is the watchword for Lewsberg. The band hail from Rotterdam and produce sparse, stripped back industrial rock music with a heavy Lou Reed-esque feel to it. I’ve seen them referred to as the Dutch Velvet Underground, and I kind of get that, but for me there’s a little more going on too. I almost feel like I can detect a bit of the desolate post-punk of Joy Division in there also. And the wry vocal delivery reminds me, weirdly, of Kings of Convenience.

You won’t find much in the way of social media presence for these guys, they seem to prefer to keep a pretty low profile and let the music do the talking for them. Check out their eponymous debut album for more of this stuff, it’s all pretty glorious to be honest.
