PKEW PKEW PKEW (a name representing gunshots, apparently) are a Canadian punk band. They released their eponymous debut record in 2016 and have returned this year with sophomore effort Optimal Lifestyles, which ‘I Don’t Matter At All’ is taken from.

I think this is great. And here’s the bit where I share my dubious wisdom on what I think it sounds like. A bit 80’s is the headline. Or like Kings of Leon revisiting and reinventing the ’80’s. But it’s a bit more organic, a little less slick than that band can be at times. There are sections that remind me of The Strokes in their prime too, and their take on CBGB’s style new wave.

That probably helped nobody, but there you go. Give it a listen and see what you think. And check out the album too, it’s very decent.
