Where to start with this one? The Cry are probably the best band you’ve never heard of. They appeared in the late eighties, released a single album in 1990 called Beautiful Reasons, and then disappeared. That record though became a solid cult classic, especially amongst the skater community it seems. A San Diego band writing British indie songs inspired by bands like Echo and the Bunnymen.
Anyway, after almost three decades they’re back, and have been putting out singles for the last year or two. Culminating in this, which is a belter of a song. Reminds me a little bit of The Wedding Present, a dash of Jesus and Mary Chain maybe, a pinch of Psychedelic Furs. It’s brilliant anyway. I love it. I can’t stop playing it. Enjoy.
