Track of the Day – WARBLY JETS – Propaganda

Warbly Jets are from Los Angeles, but for me sound like they have a little more of a British influence than you’d expect. They remind me more of bands such as Kasabian and The Charlatans than they do the usual LA rock scene. A little of The Horrors too. But that might just be me.

‘Propaganda’ is the title track of the band’s latest three track EP which came out on 4th January. It’s a decent record too – far funkier than I was expecting based on this song. So, you know what, forget my comparisons above because those other bands never really went fully into hip-hop beats and jazz flute samples. Hey, it’s all fair game in the rock world. There is perhaps a little more of the early Red Hot Chili Peppers to the other tracks. Yeah, ok, I concede they are perhaps Californian after all. Transatlantic Californians.
