Track of the Day – PLEASURE HEADS – Down & Out

PH2

I keep trying to quietly move away from Glasgow Thursday, but I can’t. Because I keep finding more and more brilliant Glaswegian bands. Pleasure Heads being yet another case in point.

They’re closer in style to Declan Walsh than they are to, say, Snash or Baby Strange. And by extension, I suppose, closer to the ’80’s indie rock that I love so much – the melodic, poetic urban poetry that The Smiths pioneered. What a brilliantly diverse scene that city has. I remain constantly surprised and impressed by it.

I could only find a live version of this, and it’s not the slickest recording. But the song was so great I had to include it. It’s so great it shines through the video production. And you can always go and listen to the studio version for yourself right?

Another great track, another great band. Happy Glasgow Thursday.
