How often do I listen to glam rock? Almost never if I’ve being honest. It’s just not really my thing, unless it’s so very good that I can’t help but sit up and notice.
Starbenders are from Atlanta, Georgia and have been around since 2014. They are a bit glammy, but they’re much more Jane’s Addiction or Porno for Pyros than they are T Rex or Slade. Lead singer Kimi Shelter actually reminds me of a more hard edged Kate Bush for some reason, and there are elements of early Fleetwood Mac in there somewhere it seems to me. Add to that the Deep Purple styling and there’s a really interesting alternative dynamic going on in their music. I like it. It’s interesting and a bit different.
Yeah, I sometimes break the one track rule. I found an Audiotree session of the band, and seeing as though I could only find audio of ’21st Century Orphan’ I thought I’d include it as they’re worth watching in action too.
