“Silenced by the Roar” is the excellent new track from deux furieuses. The inspiration for the song fits well with how a lot of us are feeling in the UK after the general election last week…
The band say:
“‘Silenced by the Roar’ is the first new song we have recorded and released since our 2016 debut album Tracks of Wire. We feel increasingly silenced by the government’s “Crush the saboteurs” mentality and let down by ‘piss poor politicians’ who are unable to articulate a response to the failures of democracy and the big issues of our times.
It is a comment on Britain in 2017 and a general election rocked by terrorism and sabotaged by increasingly desperate and unconvincing politicians. This is our expression of it how feels to be living in post Trump, post Brexit, post truth Britain. We vote for hope and we will not be silenced.”

Like all of deux furieuses’ music, it has an addictive quality and a depth that reels you in. It’s a powerful protest song made all the more poignant by last week’s events.
The band have a post general election party/ “Silenced by the Roar” single launch tomorrow, 13th June, at The Islington 1 Tolpuddle Street
They’re an awesome live band. I saw them in March supporting Sisteray. You can check out my review HERE.
