Raging Bull is a London-based rock/blues outfit that has been around since 2013, building a following with their “guns-a-blazing” stage performances. Recently, the band released a self-titled, three-track EP, and it is definitely a release that makes you sit up and take notice.
The music has a terrific bluesy heft and weight, and this Raging Bull puts some serious riffy goodness into each track. Adding to the attraction, Quentin Fourmond’s vocals have a rugged, laid-back strength that is a real pleasure to listen to.
While this is a relatively new band, they sound like a tight, experienced outfit on this three-track EP: there’s some great blues-infused guitar-work, heavy-as-dinosaur-bones basslines, and the kind of hard-thumping drums that give the music a life and a pulse of its own.
‘The Only One’ starts off the EP with some hot and heavy guitar that grows into a powerful, bluesed up rock and roller. There’s a beautiful depth and growly warmth to this track that really appeals to me.
Next up is ‘Second Chance’ with grooves and riffs to grab you, and a catchy hookiness in the melody and chorus that makes the track stick with me.
Final track ‘Until The End’ has a gritty, stoner-rock swagger, a hint of psychedelic flair, and as on all the tracks, the fuzzy guitar and the rumbly bass go together like a dream: it’s a great way to close out a very strong EP.
This EP is a promising release from Raging Bull: they’ve got the confidence, the sound, and the chops to deliver heavy, genuine, and satisfying blues-rock. I can’t wait to hear more from these guys. If you’ve got a hankering for hefty, stick-to-your-ribs blues-rock, then these guys have something for you.
Raging Bull has also released a great cover of Willie Dixon’s ‘I Just Want To Make Love To You’ that is available for free download on the band’s Soundcloud page.
For those of you in the London-area: Raging Bull plays Spice of Life in Soho on July 30th.
