Featured band: Into Orbit

Into Orbit are a brilliant experimental rock duo (Guitar: Paul Stewart – Drums: Ian Moir) from Wellington, New Zealand. Their fantastic debut album CAVERNS is currently streaming on Spotify and Bandcamp (also available to purchase in CD and vinyl)

You can also buy it on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/nz/album/caverns/id913334241

I began listening to the album and soon became hooked. The first song, “Corridors… Caverns”, the longest on the album at 9.34 minutes, is an epic tune. It really made me stop and listen. This is a very exciting collection of music. All the tracks are instrumental. I love experimental rock and metal and this album has both of these genres, and more. “Caverns” will take you on a journey with beautiful atmospheric melodies which then suddenly explode into heavy and loud guitars, but the continuity is absolutely perfect and it just grabs your attention and keeps hold of it throughout. This is a mesmerising album by a talented pair of musicians who should be more widely known. If you like rock, metal, post rock, experimental rock, or just good music, you should take a listen.

Into Orbit have also recently released a single, “Dark Matter”, which is free to download from Bandcamp. This one starts off all atmospheric and then has a real rock sound. It’s another great example of this band’s talent. I’m looking forward to hearing more from them.

Into Orbit are currently running a competition where you can enter to win 1 of 5 copies of their debut album on Vinyl.

You’ll have to be quick if you want to enter as entries close on 23rd April 2016.
