Track of the Day – BLUE HELIX ‘Runaways’

bluehelix

I hadn’t heard of Blue Helix until last week, but wooo boy, they made an impression with this tune!  This four-piece indie rock band formed in 2008 and is based in Washington State. They’re influenced by the the grunge scene of the 1990s, and blend that influence with a twist of melodic rock, hard rock, and just an all around powerful, heavy vibe.

More about the band:

Winners of the 2015 Puget Sound Battle of the Bands, Blue Helix plays regular gigs in Washington and recently performed live at KGRG 89.9 FM. Past gigs include the Crocodile, Showbox, Neumos, the Tractor, the Hard Rock Cafe, Jazzbones (opening for Saving Abel), Louie G’s, and the 2014 Meeker Days Festival in Puyallup.Their latest album Tale of Two Halves (https://soundcloud.com/bluehelix-music) presents a unique and eclectic mix of song-writing with a vast range of instruments including acoustic guitars, violins, piano and modern electric guitar sounds.  I am enclosing a one-page-sheet with more detailed information about Tale of Two Halves.

‘Tale of Two Halves’ is a very impressive album: I highly recommend checking that out as well.
