In a small, dark venue in Camden Town last night musical history was being made. Dirty Thrills played a set at Proud Camden. A band much more suited to an arena than a pub-sized venue, I felt privileged to be a part of the experience.

I’d been meaning to catch Dirty Thrills live for ages! Last night I finally managed to get to a gig. They played Proud Camden in a half hour set as part of the live sessions featuring up and coming bands.

There was some mix up with the timings for the performance so instead of getting on at 9.15 p.m. as expected, they were on at about 10 p.m. This meant I also saw two bands before them and really enjoyed those too. I’d definitely recommend these Proud Camden live sessions as a way to discover new bands.

As soon as Dirty Thrills got on stage and started to play I could tell this was going to be a gig to remember. They played 6 songs from their acclaimed debut album “Dirty Thrills”. All four band members exude passion and energy as they perform and it’s obvious that they enjoy what they do. Their songs are all excellent and living proof that rock music is alive and well. Their enthusiasm is contagious.

Although there were not many people in attendance when they got on stage, by the end an eager crowd had formed.

This band should be playing much bigger venues, in my opinion, and I have a feeling that they will be doing just that in the not too distant future.

Catch them on tour:

April 27th – Nambucca, London – Tickets

May 15th – The Great Escape Fesitival showcase , Brighton – Tickets

May 24th – Lechlade Festival, Lechlade – Tickets

May 29th – Beaverworks, Leeds – Tickets

July 18th – Chiddfest, Hailsham – Tickets

Dirty Thrills are currently at work on their second album. I personally can’t wait to hear it!
